FAQ

Apothenne Los Angeles FAQs

Q: What makes Apothenne candles different from other candles?

A: The components of our candles are hand-mixed and hand-poured into carefully selected glass containers. Our (cotton-core) beeswax coated and wooden wicks are also placed by hand, ensuring the most care is taken with each candle. We only use the most luxurious and high-quality essential and fragrance oils, and are focused on creating clean, beautiful candles for you to enjoy in your home.

Q: How can I smell the different scents before I purchase wholesale?

A: We like a good candle sniff, too. We are in two showrooms.

Karen Alweil Studio 1933 S Broadway Suite #848, Los Angeles, CA 90007

The second is in Atlanta:

Karen Alweil Studio AmericasMart Building 1 240 Peachtree Street NW Showroom #10-E-2, Atlanta, GA 30303.

Or we are happy to mail a sample pack to any registered wholesale account.

Q: Do you ship international?

A: Not quite yet!

Q: Where can I purchase Apothenne candles?

A: You can make purchases on our website at www.apothenne.com, our Etsy shop ApothenneLosAngeles, at any seasonal craft fair we attend or at one of our specialty retailers nationwide.

Q: Do your candles contain any unnatural ingredients?

A: We use only non-GMO soy wax and cotton-core wicks. There are no preservatives, additives, dyes, phthalates, lead, or petroleum used to create Apothenne candles, ever.

Q: Can I use your candles if I have allergies?

A: Most people can use scented candles without any problems, but if you have any allergies to any of our ingredients or fragrances, we can’t say if you would have a reaction or not. Our best advice is to use the candle as it is intended to be used. (That means: don’t rub it on your skin… or eat it. We know our candles smell great, let’s stick to burning and smelling!)

Q: How do I stop my candle from smoking?

A: Make sure you trim your wick each time before you light your candles. Keeping your wick trimmed to about ¼ inch will ensure a clean burn and controlled flame. If you’re noticing smoke coming from your candle, blow it out, let it cool, then trim your wick and light it again.

Q: How long can I burn my candle for?

A: We recommend setting aside at least 2 hours to monitor your candle the first time you light it, making sure to trim the wick to ¼ inch before you light it. After the first burn, you can burn the candle anywhere from 1 to 3 hours, after which we would advocate letting your candle cool before re-lighting.

Q: What is your shipping policy?

A: Apothenne ships all of our product UPS, USPS or FedEx from our shipping and fulfillment studio in Fort Worth, Texas.

We are not currently shipping internationally, we hope to add this option in the future.

Q: How do I order wholesale?

A: Please reach out through our Contact Us page here on the site.

Q: Is soy really better than paraffin?

A: Yes! Soy is a clean, biodegradable material which means it's safer for your health and home when burning. It is also easy to clean up after a spill.

Q: Is the candle wax safe to use on skin?

A: While some of our candles are, you should take personal caution to your own sensitivity to soy and fragrance oil.
